Uffizi question

I have a reservation at the Uffizi for 4 p.m. on July 10 Now I'm thinking I'd prefer to go a bit earlier and I'm wondering how strict they are about reservation times. If I showed up at 3:30 what are the chances that they would allow me to enter?

My recent experience: I showed up about a half hour early in mid-May and was not allowed to enter until 15 minutes before my appointed time. Those with reservations go to a separate ticket booth area, there is a guard at the entrance who checks everybody's admission times on their print-out.

They MAY be marginally more forgiving in July because you are less likely to be competing for the time with school groups, but mostly, you are stuck with what you asked for. Have a good time anyway and say hello to all the Boticelli for me!

Yeah, I figured as much. I'll show up early and see what happens.

If your reservation is not prepaid, why not just call and make an earlier reservation? You won't have to pay for your 4pm if you don't use it.

Good point. I asked my hotel to book the reservation so it's possible they paid and I'll have to pay the concierge but I'll check. thanks

Generally, if I'm not mistaken, the museum doesn't require payment until you show up, so I don't think that would be a problem.

You do not pay until you arrive at the museum.
