Uffizi fully booked?
 

Does anyone have any further information on the Uffizi being booked until after May 11?

Yes I ran into the same thing. Tried booking for May 3rd, but both Accademia and Uffizi were booked. Guess only option is to wait in line.

Several booking sites were sold out, but I finally found www.florenceart.it and booked for May 10. I checked for May 3rd and it was full that day.

There is obviously an additional fee for booking through them, but hopefully this will help others out too.

Wanted to add that for May 3rd www.florenceart.it did have tickets for the Accademia.

Uffizi and Academia Museum Reservations
The easiest and cheapest way is to call Florence 011 (U.S. international access code) 39 (Italy's country code) then 055-294-883 8:30-18:30 M-F and 8:30-12:00 Sat. Florence time. You will get an English speaking operator and in 2-3 minutes YOU CAN RESERVE FOR BOTH. This is through the reservation service at the Uffizi and costs beyond the normal entry fee only about 1.60 euro for the service. This is MUCH cheaper than the commercial booking services.
You will not be charged for the reservations unless you use them.

Thanks for the warning! I just called and made reservations for both Uffizi and Accademia for 5/26 and 5/27.

It took about 12 minutes to get to the operator (a lady with very sexy accent :-)) on the phone number that ira posted.

Thanks for the info. I have seen the posts before about calling direct. I can't remember now where I saw this, but several were saying that they weren't able to get reservations through the phone call (for early to mid May anyway).

So needless to say I didn't even bother since I was a little freaked out about possibly not being able to get reservations....I just went ahead with florenceart.

I will try calling for the Accademia though to try and save on the fees.

Ira's suggestion is correct. But you can also e-mail your hotel and ask them to make the reservations. They're more than happy to do it. I do it for all reservations I want to make before I arrive. I wouldn't go through the other web services when you can go direct.

One more thing.....you used to be able to call that day for a reservation. I think that now that people know about the reservations, they fill up fast. Also, if you go through something like Florenceart, they probably have a certain amount of tickets for each day.

yes I tried calling them directly and also requested through my hotel, both told me the same thing.

I called two days ago and made reservations for both on May 10-11 in the morning. I got the first time slot I asked for for each.

I just wanted to update this post by saying I called 011-39-055-294-883 this morning and made reservations for the Accademia without a problem, but was told that the Uffizi is sold out through May 19. I'm going to try to e-mail my hotel next.

Also, for the Florence art experts, is the Uffizi worth waiting in line for four hours? I know it's amazing, but galleries at the Pitti Palace also sound very good.

I booked for next weekend at the Accademia no problems. Is it advisable to pre-book the Pitti Palace at this time of year?
