Tsss you must tip 8-10 €.

NewbE Apr 30th, 2016 06:51 PM

Your driver refused a ten cent tip, imagine that, lol!!!

fuzzbucket May 1st, 2016 01:12 AM

It doesn't matter whether I have used Uber or not - I know many people who do and I reported what they told me.
I only use regular taxis and have never had a problem finding one, getting ripped off or otherwise.
Uber is for spoiled children who think they are more special than anyone else.

I wasn't aware that tipping the taxi driver is not the custom. My G7 driver graciously accepted a 10E tip for driving us to the airport but clearly wasn't hanging around waiting to be tipped.

I am a bit puzzled by the last comment....

<i>I wasn't aware that tipping the taxi driver is not the custom.</i>

Tipping at all is not the custom.

<<I am a bit puzzled by the last comment....>>

Well, consider the source.

Some folks seem to have lost track of who is insulting whom here.

NewbE May 1st, 2016 10:28 AM

<It doesn't matter whether I have used Uber or not>
It does, actually.

<Uber is for spoiled children who think they are more special than anyone else.>
Ah, now I know I can ignore you without risk of missing any pearls of wisdom!

Still Giggling Over the Ten Cent Tip

Taxis drivers I assume in Paris are well paid - why should they get a tip - if so tip everyone who waits on you in a store, etc - they need the money more than most taxi drivers I would think.

NewbE May 1st, 2016 07:46 PM

Pal, you're missing the humor in the story, I think, but never mind...

Uber has clearly a 'branchouille' side

Allo, t'es à Paris et tu prends pas Uber, non mais allo quoi ?

fuzzbucket May 2nd, 2016 12:57 AM

NewbE is apparently just lurking on these forums for the entertainment value. And not the brightest bulb in the socket, either.

NewbE May 2nd, 2016 12:01 PM

Coming from you, fuzz, that's an endorsement!

IMDonehere May 2nd, 2016 12:11 PM

Although I never liked ballads, April in Paris is far better than in Uber in Paris.

CarolA May 3rd, 2016 04:59 AM

Well, I have now decided that I can use Uber in France and had a little giggle at my desk over the attempts to scare us away from it by use of insults. (That said I do wonder if fuzzbucket is old enough to be allowed to post without approval by an adult? {"Uber is for spoiled children" has to be one of the most bizarre statements I have ever heard. LOL!)

cafegoddess May 3rd, 2016 07:33 AM

"No tipping with G7, either. Just not done. I tried to get our G7 driver to keep the 10 cents extra for our fare to the Gare Montparnasse the other day, and he wouldn't hear of it."

Honestly, can you be anymore insulting?

I have never used Uber, I think I will try it later this week in Paris.

NewbE, you are funny!

NewbE May 3rd, 2016 08:37 AM

Somebody got the joke, finally! Thanks cafegoddess, lol!

Whathello May 3rd, 2016 08:44 AM

Giving 10 cents is not grandiose but not an insult in france. Adapt your judgments to local ways.

We ain't discussin a one cent tip in the big apple.

NewbE May 3rd, 2016 08:54 AM

Whathello, I really expected a better sense of humor from you, of all people! Are you coming down with whatever is in the air here, it's highly contagious!
