U.S. State Dept. Issues Travel Warning

I think this is travel related so here it goes. According to Reuters, the U.S. State Dept. issued (today) a warning to ALL U.S. citizens living and visiting ANY foreign country to be prepared to leave, or at the very least to be prepared and have all necessary items on hand.

STOP SCARING PEOPLE, DAMN IT!<BR><BR>YES, I AM SHOUTING!<BR><BR>Read the article here <BR>http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,76517,00.html<BR><BR>Or, at the very least read the other thread on this same non-event!<BR><BR>Your summary is not even close to what the State Department actually did.

How sad.

I guess I missed the previous announcement by the state department that told us normally visitors and citizens living in foreign countries SHOULD NOT be prepared to leave in case of an emergency, and should not have all their necessary items on hand.

It's not a warning, it's a general public announcement. And most of it is common sense anyway.<BR><BR>It's here: http://www.travel.state.gov/general_advice.html

Here's what is actually says:<BR><BR>http://travel.state.gov/general_advice.html<BR><BR>The actual content was somewhat distorted in some press accounts and very distorted in some of the other Fodors posts floating around under various titles.
