Florence, you sound as though you have very deep emotional problems. The same goes for Mike. This is an American based travel forum for all to enjoy. I have read other postings by you which are full of negativity and envy towards Americans. Keep your misery to yourself, or better yet get help!

I wonder if during WWII the US soldiers were as careless and incompetent as the ones currently in Afghanistan.<BR>Who knows how many French, British, Dutch, etc ... civilians were accidentally killed by US forces uring WWII, possibly while celebrating weddings.<BR>Anyway, we'll never know the true number of victims., the US statistics being totally unreliable (you know, this creative accounting thing, numbers are always what they should be, not what they really are) ...

Well me, you have to understand, the post started:<BR><BR>"I know this is a travel forum but ..."<BR><BR><BR>Anyone who could post another word past that is as ignorant as james is. You have to come to expect such ignorance with posting such crap on a travel board.

Florence, unless you live in a dictatorship you could ask the soldiers to leave (remember what happened in the Philipines). Or maybe you are just to lazy to do anything, or maybe you really want the americans protecting you and just like to complain because it is "tres chic".

Hi James <BR><BR>Don't be naif. US don't keep army bases in Europe to "protect Europe", but to protect US own strategical purposes. <BR><BR>The USAF base in the Azores was used as a tactical support to many attack actions (e.g: bombardments in Lybia) and never to protect Azoreans against foreigner threats.<BR><BR>The day the US government think the army bases serve no longer their purposes, US army will leave the same day.
