U Krale Karla
I hope this goes in the right spot this tome. I would like any onformation on this hotel in Prague. It is on Nuradova. Thanks.
|
This one went "in the right spot" - - though the other one can hardly be called in the "wrong" spot - - because very few people on this forum select out "specific country forums" (they only exist in the sense of the questions that designate one (or more) of the countries listed will be selected if you want to see just the posts for that country.
In any event, search here on Krale Karla - - or even just Krale (since that is an uncommon word) - - and you will find numerous mentions of this hotel. I think it also gets good mention on www.jasoncholt.com - - an excellent website for travelers (especially first-time) to Prague. Best wishes, Rex |
There are 3 posts on the Europe forum with this title... all originally posted within 10 minutes of one another.

Jane, out of sheer laziness, I have copied below the entire response I wrote for another poster yesterday:
We stayed in a pension in Prague that I wouldn't highly recommend, but I did collect brochures from three hotels I wanted to remember in case we returned: The Hotel Neruda (mentioned above), the Hotel U krale Karla, and the Grand Hotel Bohemia. The Neruda is on the hill going up to Prague Castle, near the Bazaar restaurant. Its brochure says it's four-star, an historical building reconstructed. Lobby had a nice, contemporary feel, clean and well-done. Rack rate is 220 EUR in high season for a double. It's website is www.hotelneruda.cz The U krale Karla brochure says it's a gothic building, rebuilt in 1639, renovated in 1993. It had more an old Prague feeling to it, old elegance. In Lesser Town, also near the Castle, only 16 double rooms and 3 suites, high season rates for double room deluxe is 6900CZK. Website: www.romantichotels.cz The Grand Hotel Bohemia is a five-star, in Old Town next to the Powder Tower (also a good location), 78 rooms and suites. It's a classic, old, elegant-looking place that looked charming, too. (No rate sheet in their brochure.) Website: www.grandhotelbohemia.cz So, that's all I know! We didn't see any of the rooms themselves, but from walking through the lobby and asking at the desk, they looked promising. Let me know what you discover and decide. So much fun to plan a trip! |
Much later.... We stayed at U Krale Karla and just loved it. Our room had a large entry, large marble bath, large bedroom with a baronial bed, stained glass windows, hardwood floors, Persian rugs, fireplace, hand painted coffered ceiling, etc. etc. I definitely recommend it.

thanks for reporting back on it.
Did you have a great visit to Prague? |
This is what makes this forum one class act. Glad to hear you had a great trip to Prague!
|
These hotels sound gret. Does anyone know how they compare to Hotel Aria? Also can anyone recommend similar type hotels in either Budapest or Vienna?
|
Jane, Thanks for posting. A good friend of mine is leaving for Prague and staying at the U Krale Karla. I read her your comments and she is very happy to hear that it is a good place.
|
ttt. please comment on other "great old world type hotels in budapest and vienna.
|
Michelezr, you'll get answers to your question about hotels in Vienna and Budapest if you start a new thread titled appropriately for hotels in those cities. Otherwise, people only see this one titled re: one hotel in Prague.
In Vienna, I can highly recommend the Hotel Kaiserin Elisabeth. Search this site for many glowing reviews of it-- including mine. We loved it. It's definitely "old world" Austria. |
