I am in the early stages of planning my next trip to the U.K. (2008 Spring or Fall; Wales and the Southwest or Scotland).
I want to avoid bank holidays and school holidays as much as possible - so - can anyone tell me for 2008 May and June and September - when are the the bank and school holidays in Wales, England and Scotland? We intend to be in the U.K. for 2-3 weeks. Any help is definitely appreciated.

In England and Wales, the first and last Mondays in May are bank holidays, so those weekends will be busy. The week following the late May bank holiday is also a school holiday week, most schools have 1 weeks holiday, some have 2.

The main school summer holidays vary a bit but tend to be from about the 3rd week in July, returning the first week in September. The last Monday in August is also a bank holiday.

The bank holidays vary for Scotland and I'm not sure of all the school holidays there.

In Scotland, summer school holiday starts earlier, around the first week of July and finishing around the middle of August. Wales keep similar school holiday pattern to England.

Thanks VERY much! Right now I am leaning towards a time frame within the first 3 weeks in May, last 3 weeks in June or last 3 weeks in September.
