I am planning a first-time 5-day visit, and appreciate all the great information in this thread --thank you!

Although a few years younger, my teen boys loved the Army Museum and they liked the Rodin Museum. I think they were really impressed by Notre Dame as we went on Sunday & saw a mass. Also, the Holocaust Memorial. They loved hitting up the familiar, McDonalds (by the Lourve)? But the best was the crepe restaurant, croissants & the pastries!

Great thread with lots of good info! I second the recommendation to have Michael Osman. He was the guide for our family (late 20 year olds) several years ago and can focus on whatever you want. And he's just lots of fun. This time we went to the Marmatton and the Bois de Bologne, by Metro and bus, which we would have had a bit of trouble with.

What about a family walking tour. This tool help me calculate a walking tour last year with my family http://www.citytripplanner.com/en/citytrip-guide-Paris you can spend a day visiting for example many interesting museums in the city (Louvre, Musee d'Orsay,The Pompidou Centre etc.)
This is how it works: On the left column -Select days -Pace -Museums (or any other attraction of your interest) -The tool will calculate for you a personal walking tour. You should visit Saint Germain des Pres is one of the most beautiful neighbourhoods in Paris, Jardin du Luxembourg (there you will find a samall replica of the statue of liberty) |

thanks so much to all contributors :) |
Threads like this serve so many more people than the OP!

Bookmarking! Planning 5 nights (I think) in October. Perhaps one day trip, perhaps none. Wanting to stay in the Latin Quarter I think.

Yes, a year ago thread, helpful to my upcoming trip, thank you all!

My thanks, as well! Will be following up on these great ideas for our week in Paris in June. There's a comfort factor in getting advice from "real folks" in addition to guide books (though yes, of course I know lots of real people contribute to those).
