Two weeks in Ireland
 

My husband and I will be in Ireland for two weeks in November 2013. We are landscape photographers. We are not shoppers. We want to spend out time seeing the beauty that is Ireland. I have most of the Island trip planned out but I am not sure where to spend two days.

My question is "Is it worth driving up North of Dingle in November to see the Cliffs of Moher?
I would like to see Quin Abbey in the County of Claire but is it even open in November?
As we are not interested in shopping and being in a city is there any reason to go to Galway?

Keeping in mind that we want to photograph castles, churches, landscapes where would you suggest we spend our two open days?

I would suggest visiting GLENDALOUGH in County Wicklow, not that far south of Dublin famous for its ancient monastic site with round tower. Eerie, historic, and beautiful, one of the most iconic sites in Ireland.

Getting from the Antrim coast to Cashel via Glendalough will require the best part of a day just to drive, leaving you very little time in places that deserve more. Then from Cashel to Kenmare via the Ring of Kerry is too much, also. You might consider using those two free days to stretch this out a bit.

Landscape photographers will find little to interest them in Dublin. You could use those days somewhere else.

Jaja, thank you for your advise. I was coming to this same conclusion myself. I think I should shift some days around. Maybe giving Cashel and Kilkenny more time. I appreciate the comments about Dublin but the hubby is a big Guinness fan and loves taking photos of unique doors. He has located some very nice ones for his photo collection in Dublin.

latedaytraveler we have Glendalough on our trip plan but I had never heard of Eerie. I will have to look into this. Thank you for the advise.

Wander, I think latedaytraveler was using eerie as an adjective to describe Glendalough.

Plenty of interesting doors in Dublin.

If you are staying in Dingle, the best b&b experience I have had, anywhere, was at Pax House. You can read my review on Trip Advisor. Pax House is amazing.

If you want some beautiful scenery, you may want to consider using Galway as a base, to see Connemara. If not, you can stay in Clifden in Connemara, which was some of the most beautiful scenery I saw during my two weeks in Ireland.

As for the Cliffs, we took a one hour boat ride along the bottom of the cliffs. We also saw them from the top. Looking up at the cliffs from the boat put the size of the cliffs into perspective. They were awe inspiring, and one of the highlights of our trip. I understand your husband's love of all things Guinness, but you don't need three days in Dublin to get your fix of Guinness.
