Two weeks in Greece
My boyfriend and I are going to Greece in May. We have both been to Athens before and really want to see Crete and also the big highlights of Santorini. Here's what we have so far:
3 days in Athens 7 days in Crete 1 day and a 1/2 in Santorini We have an extra day but we aren't sure where to put it. Any suggestions for that particular day or how we've allotted our time in general? Thanks! |
I suggest putting one/two of those days for Athens at the end as a buffer in case of ferry/flight problems. You may like a day in Paros or Mykonos.

You need more time for Santorini so take the extra day there.
|
Definitely Santorini. Save the three days in Athens for the end of the trip to give you the buffer suggested by Nadia. :-)

I realize I am joining this thread a bit late but I think you have had very good advice.
If you get into Athens early enough you can easily catch a flight directly to Crete (Heraklion or Chania) Definitely leave the Athens portion of your trip. Last year in May we got stranded in Paros for an unscheduled night because of a ferry strike, so stuff can happen. You really do not have much time in Santorini so if you have an extra day spend it there. |
Thanks for the tips, guys! We currently have one day in Athens at the beginning of our trip and two days at the end. We are actually taking an overnight ferry to Crete so we don't have to get a hotel that first night.
I like the idea of spending an extra day on Santorini, I guess my boyfriend and I were worried about being bored. We like relaxing but we also are pretty active people. It sounds like there is plenty to do there though. |
