great, just get off the stop in the Grassmarket and you will have a minutes walk to the pub.£1.50 per person or £4 for a day ticket.

this is the bus timetable but during the festival the time table goes out the window. Their should be a bus tracker at the bus stop that will let you know how long you have to wait on a bus.

you can use the App for smart phones as long as you have your gps on it will identify where you are and give you options on bus stops and let you know when to expect a bus.

Julia_t, Patrick, thursdaysd, elberko, gailscout: (I'm losing track - is that the roster so far?). Maybe 6:30-ish somewhere near Covent Garden, or along the Strand or maybe farther east? Because we have 'dueling' GTGs would it help if I started a new thread?
jane1144, unclegus: 6PM at the Last Drop -- see you there. The only potential hitch would be if I miss my connection at LHR to EDI. But I won't worry about that til the day. In any case you guys can meet up.

Only if it is easier for you. I'm happy to follow this thread as it shows up on my Safari "page". I'm thrilled with an area near Covent Garden but useless at suggesting a place. My 1st GTG-I'm excited!!

I'm no help at all, I really don't know London well.
I hardly ever visit, I just don't like the place much!
But two of my children live there, in Brixton and Greenwich respectively (actually I do like Greenwich, but it's a bit far out for the GTG), though I will ask them if they can suggest anywhere relatively central which might possibly be suitable.
Patrick is probably much more au fait with potentially suitable venues. Where did we meet last time? And another time a lot of us met at a pub/restaurant on the South Bank at Tower Bridge.

Love the dead cats covered with cobwebs in the basement which makes this a perfect venue for this GTO IMO!

There's always the Coal Hole on the Strand again, I suppose (I usually go along with anything bikerscott and jamikins propose because they explore more places than I do), but I'll have a scout around the area tomorrow. We're talking space for 6 on an early weekday evening with a possibility of food?

Oh -- that would be great Patrick, thanks. We'll wait for your scouting report. Same here -- I get to London often enough to have some ideas but jamie and bikerscott usually have better/more current ideas. I think it might be a little more than six -- not sure if gailscout is bringing her friends along?
(and you can ignore PQ's suggestion -- Dead cats and all. I fear he is on the paint again. )
