Two or Three Days in London
Planning a trip to London and then on to Scotland to drop our daughter off at the University of St Andrews in September. Thinking of spending a few days in London then taking the train to Edinburgh spending a day or so and then spending 3 days in St Andrews getting her acclimated. Looking for a nice reasonably priced hotel in central London near all attractions so we can maximize our two days there. Also wondering about a nice reasonably priced hotel in a good location in Edinburgh. Plan on taking the train between the two cities. Any suggestions and help would be appreciated!

What do you consider reasonable?
For train tickets be sure to purchase 8/12 weeks ahead of time. Check out National Express rail for times and fares. |
I've heard some grumbling lately, but Priceline is/was supposed to be good for London. Are you looking for a triple or a single and a double? And we don't know what you'd consider reasonable.

London is a very large city and sights are spread out over a large area. No hotel is near all or even most of them. Just pick one in the center and get used to using the Tube.
Priceline is usually good - but only for 2 people - if there are 3 of you, you will have to bid on 2 rooms - or look for alternate discount sites that let you book rooms for more than 2 people. And without knowing what you consider reasonable it's impossible to make recos. |
Check out the Londontown site. They always have given me the best price in a hotel that I chose, in the exact area I want.
