Two months in France. How do we divide our time?

We will be going to France next Fall for about two months and will have a car except in Paris. We have been to Paris, Loire Valley, Alsace, and Burgundy. We want to spend a week in Paris but how would we divide our time in the other areas we haven't seen? Also, any suggestions for "bases" in these areas would be much appreciated. Thanks so much!

Brittany - 2 weeks - 1 week near Dinan, 1 week near either Pt Aven or Granite Rose Coast area.

Take TGV from Rennes to Avignon (no train change)

Provence 2 weeks - 1 in St Remy, 1 near Gordes, or 2 weeks in either.

Riveria 1 1/2 weeks - 1 week in Nice & 4 days in St Tropez

Dordogne 1 1/2 weeks near Sarlat

Paris

Rent Gites (houses) in all areas except St Tropez.

These are my 3 favorite areas in France.

It appears that the major areas you have not visited are Normandy, Brittany and all of the south from the Atlantic to the Italian border. You might want to pick up the relevant Green Guides for these areas and see what itineraries Michelin suggests.

Look into car buying/selling from either Peugeot or Renault (http://www.renaultusa.com/); it might be cheaper than renting and in any case your visa card will not cover the car for the full amount of time.

To get you started, here's my trip report that includes Normandy and Brittany (http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...p;tid=34444403). Search this board and you will find plenty, especially on the Provence and the Dordogne.

Hi jr,

I'd increase the Dordogne to 2 weeks.

You might find the Carcassone to Paris part of my trip report helpful.

Thanks for your suggestions. It's a big help as I'm just starting to plan this trip.
