Two last minute questions!!!
 

Leaving tomorrow for two weeks in Italy and France. We are going to Ste. Chapelle for a concert Thursday night; anyone know what the appropriate attire is for such an event? Also, and forgive me for being naive, but should I take any precautions concerning drinking water in Paris, Tuscany, or Rome? Sorry if I offended, but I'm a newbie. <BR> <BR>Thanks!!

No problem with the drinking water. I have been to all places and never had any trouble.

Hi Calvin. How's Hobbs? <BR>Last year at Ste. Chappele I had on a sport coat with a tie and was a tad over dressed. I felt comfortable in that attire, however. Even at the opera, I had on similar clothes and was about in the middle of formality. (Dark blue sport coat, dress shirt, tie, dark grey slacks.) <BR>The water in Paris caused no trouble. <BR>But we did have a small filter that we used. I don't think it was necessary. <BR>Don't know about Italy. <BR>

Calvin, I don't know about the proper dress for Ste. Chapelle, but I can give you my own thoughts on consuming water in Paris, Rome and Tuscany. No problems. I just returned from Rome and Tuscany. I carried a small water bottle with me and frequently refilled it when ever I came upon a water fountain, which was frequently. Tasted great, no GI troubles. Even Rick Steves mentions in his travel guide for Italy, that he drinks "lots of cold refreshing water from drinking fountains" The Roman Forum has three fountains, and boy, did it taste great!! Have a wonderful trip!! PS, my guess for dress at that concert would just be neat casual. No jacket/tie, unless you like carrying all that in your luggage. A clean neat pair of slacks and ditto for the shirt. Not as dressy as the opera, and still many go there with no tie. It's vacation..!!! Enjoy!

I have family in Paris and they don't drink the water-- but just because its sandy.
