Will your husband enjoy his 'must visit' Cinque Terre if it's cold and raining?
@Jean, probably not. Is it usually cold and raining in end of Oct/beginning of Nov?
I can't predict the weather, but historical records indicate Oct./Nov. is the wettest time of year and high temps average 60-62F in late Oct.-early Nov. The pictures you've seen may not be what you'd see at that time of year.
Yes, by that time of year you're better off staying in cities and bigger towns where there are things to do inside when the weather is bad. Of course, the weather could be good, but the odds are not so good.

I don't think going to the Cinque Terra in late Oct/early Nov sounds very nice at all! Please do check historical weather there before committing to this.
I think zoecat's proposed itinerary is the best so far, taking into account the likely weather, the short time frame of the trip, and having to start/end at Milan. |
Thank you all. Will go research on the weather now.
