Two days in the Pyrenees,Parque National de Ordesa y Monte Perdido?
 

We will be driving from Tarragona to San Sebastion with two nights we could use for stop overs. Is there somewhere we should make the effort to see on our way or just drive through and spread the extra days on other destinations on our trip? I was looking at Jaca and Huesco with a stop at Zaragosa on the way. Fodors had one of their choice parks as Parque National de Ordesa y Monte Perdido. Can you see much of the park by car? We can do some hiking but not much longer than 2 hours since my husband has a bad knee. Thanks for any help!

You can drive around the park but there is no highway through the park, it's set aside for hiking, trekking and camping. It you want to spend a couple of days in the area, then I suggest the Tena Valley around Panticosa.

I would choose between Torla and Benasque. Torla is a charming little village in the National Park of Ordesa and Monte Perdido. From there you can visit the Valley of Ordesa, which is the most beautiful valley in the park.
There you can walk a little to see some magnificent waterfalls. The route to the waterfalls of Estrecho and Cueva is very easy and only some three kilometres.
Benasque, located in the Nature Park of Posets-Maladeta, is bigger than Torla. The Valley of Benasque has easy walks like the path through the plain of l´Hospital. Or you can take a bus to Plan d´Estan to see the lagoons there.

Thank you both for your suggestions. I have gone back to my books and reread about those areas. I think the Panticosa and Torla area will be a good choice, although I have read positive things about Benasque. At least I have a destination to continue my research on now. Although distances between these places aren't great I'm guessing that this is misleading since travel is through mountainous areas? What kind of temperatures should I expect in late June? Thanks again.

You can stay in Torla or Benasque and visit the other. It takes two hours to drive from Torla to Benasque (through Boltaña and Ainsa). The other road is more interesting but slower (Torla-Fanlo-Escalona-Ainsa-Benasque).
June is perhaps the best time of the year. You can expect 20-25 Celsius and mostly sunny weather.

This is one of the famous faja routes, but the end of it goes through the valley along the Arazas river. From the map you will find the the waterwalls - Albanico, Estrecho and Cueva. The track is very easy all the way to the great waterfall of Cola de Caballo (horse tail), but that is 6-plus kilometres (one way).
