Traveling to where?

Is Como where you want to end up? Or Milan? Or?

Well our son is working in Friedhichshafen for the summer and we are visiting him. my husband and I are celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary in June and planned to return to Italy only our son is in Germany for four months . Our plans changed and our other two children will be traveling with us because we all need to see him!! Probably too much info but it is what it is ..... Looks like we are open to all and any advice !

We will end up back in Friedrichshafen .

Take the boat from Friedrichshafen to Romanshorn, Switzerland. The train station is adjacent to the boat dock. From there, you can travel to any part of Switzerland. I have done this a couple of times. For schedules, just go to DB rail. The boat travel is a bit less than 45 minutes.

Huggy, Thank you for the perfect idea!

Murren or gimmelwald ?

Huggy May 26th, 2015 04:04 AM

More to do in Murren for a couple of days. I have walked through Gimmelwald in about 5 minutes, end to end. Not many options to sleep there also. I usually haven problem with Rick Steves as he has his place regarding travel, but he over hypes Gimmelwald.

While I think the BO is wonderful, your trip to Lauterbrunnen will require almost 4 hours. That does not include the boat trip as well as the cable car to Murren. As an alternative, we enjoyed Luzern and Appenzell. You will use almost a day each going and returning to Germany.

Well, I've been to Appenzell and I would NOT go there instead of the Berner Oberland if you are looking for scenery.

Also look at Grindelwald.

THANK YOU ! I will look closer at Murren and Grindelwald . I want the time to be on our side as well.

If time is not a factor, as I clearly stated, go to BO. If it is a factor, several other locations require much less travel time.
