Two Days in Prague Itinerary

Hello, we will be staying four nights in Prague, but one day we will be going on a daytrip. We will be staying in the Mala Strana area, near the Charles Bridge. We will have two full days, plus a part of the other day to see Prague.

One of the days we are there is St. Wenceslaus Day. Does anyone know what places will be closed that day?

I am thinking of the two following itineraries. Are they doable and should one item move to the other list? Also, if I were to add the Dvorak house, is this possible or too much for the two days?

Thank you for any advice.

Day 1--Hradcany Castle St. Vitus Cathedral, Loreto, Strahov Monastery, lunch or afternoon meal near Strahov Monastery. Tram back from Strahov Monastery

Day 2--Cross Charles Bridge to visit Old Town Square and the two churches on the square, St. Agnes Convent/Museum, Old/New Synagogue, Pinkas Synogogue, Jewish Cemetery, Wenceslaus Square. Cab or bus back from Wenceslaus Square?

Itinerary seems okay. St Nicholas church on Old Town Square (not the one in Mana Strana) isn't anything special as I recall, but it's right there, anyway.

I think you could add Dvorak's house if you get going very early and I don't know how much time you plan to spend on these things--say day 2. After all, you could visit the square, the Jewish section and St Agnes Convent and finish by early afternoon. Dvorak's house is a bit of a walk from the metro stop (IP Pavlova), make sure you have a map and know where it is. It's open until 5 so you could easily get there at 4 and see everything as it isn't very large.

I'd probably head there at the end of the day if you have time, and you can take tram 22 from near there back across the river to Mala Strana (it runs along Jecna near Dvorak's House and goes back to Mala Strana). This is the same tram people take to get to the castle.

Or, I guess you could go to Dvorak's House, then take metro back to Wenceslas Square to see it before going back to Mala Strana, otherwise you'd see Wenceslas Square after St Agnes Convent or Jewish qtr, whichover order you do those in, then take the metro from there to IP Pavlova.

I presume you have checked opening days for all these things. I think Dvorak's house is normally closed Monday, which is also the holiday (If you mean this year). The holiday shouldn't affect you, it's more like a Sunday but of course I'd check any museum, etc., you planned to go to that day. Sure, offices will be closed, banks, etc., but tourist sites will be open. Shops may be closed.

If it's too much to fit in Dvorak's house, I didn't really think it was as great a composer home museum as some FWIW, there isn't a lot in there on display, mainly manuscripts as I recall. I really like Dvorak and classical music so always visit things like that, but if you can't fit it in, I wouldn't say you had made a big mistake. Part of the visit is enjoyable just to see a different area of Prague away from the main tourist sites, and see that nice small house he lived in.

Christina,
I really appreciate your reply and taking the time to think through the schedule. I didn't have a good feel for how long the sites I had chosen would take. Good to know about St. Nicholas.

I will probably leave Dvorak's house as an option at the very end but after the other sites. If we run out of time, I am not going to be too concerned.

I have been looking at opening days and it hasn't always been clear how the holiday itself will affect us, depends on the site. I am hoping to do our daytrip on the holiday.
