TVG train information
 

Is there a web site that shows destinations, times, fares, etc. for the TVG train? Specifically, I am looking for info on the train to Avignon and back from Nice.

The SNCF web site at www.sncf.com will give you the information, eventually. <BR>It is among the quirkier web sites that I have used. <BR>There is an English version, but the screens keep switching back to French until about the 3rd try as you advance screens. In fact, if you don't switch until you advance to the screen that asks for the city of origin and the destination, you are better off. If you read French, it is much easier to stay in French the whole way. <BR> <BR>On the presumption that you are leaving from Paris, I took a look. <BR>There is a train from Paris Gare de Lyon that leaves at 7:20 and arrives at 9:27 at the Avignon TGV center. There is a continuation trip to the central station, according to the schedule I glanced at, in something called an autocar. I am not sure what that is. Automobile on pavement? Or an auto like train car?? <BR> <BR> <BR> <BR>

An "autocar" is a big bus (Like the Air France buses - or is it busses?)

go to Rick Steves web site, click on the rail pass link, that will take you to the easiest to use train schedule information web site, it maps each trip and gives all itineraries for your destination.

Don't buy tickets from Rail Europe unless you want to pay about 35% more for the same ticket than you would if you bought it in France. <BR>As for Rick Steves and his wonderous website, all he does is link you to the German web site for schedule information. If I am going international, I will ask the Germans. <BR> <BR>
