Tuscany visit
Hello
i am visiting cetine near sienna in october staying at an ecoturismo b&b . it is near rosaria and san galgana. anyone have any ideas of drives or places to visit while there . we intend to visit sienna san gimigano and florence during the five days there. thanks |
I like the drive up the S222 from Siena through the Chianti region into the small town of Greve, Castellini, Panzano and Gaiole.

We stayed near Rosia last summer, visited St. Galgano a number of times -- it is worth a visit. You'll be close to Sienna in a very beautiful, less-touristed part of Tuscany. We had a great week. The Chiant region is close, a beautiful drive up the S222. We also visited Volterra one day. San Gimi will be an easy day trip, Florence a little longer. Monteriggioni is a pretty walled village. Your B&B will be able to recommend places to eat, and make reservations for you. I have a trip report of our week, click on my name.

With a car, you can do Volterra and San Gimignano in one day. Another day for Chianti country. Another day for Montepulciano, Pienza, and Montalcino. With a day for Siena and another for Florence, that's your 5 days. And there are plenty of wonderful little places to stop along all of these routes, little villages and back roads, etc.

thanks for all this info...we will stay around casa gialla and cetine for a day at least to recharge and see lots of the other places suggested...what would be the must sees? from those places suggested
