Oops - cookies! <BR> <BR>I forgot, Tuesday Morning is a small outlet store kind of like a mini Marshalls or TJMaxx with mid to high end housewares, home decorators stuff, linens, and luggage. My friend is has become addicted to the sheets she has purchased there. The store isn't open all the time. Sometimes they are closed for a few weeks to stock up, and then they open on a Tuesday morning before a good sales season (Christmas, etc.) They have had sheets up to 400 count cotton sateen. There are several in Southern California - La Habra & Placentia are two.

Hi Carin.... What a wonderful trip report! Thank you very much! We went last Oct /Nov, and so it was lovely to remenisce and remember it all again. I'm sorry that you didn't like San Gimignano... it was one of our absolute favourite places. It wasn't too crowded when we were there, and the Piazza della Cisterna was covered with an incredible autumny creeper... all golds, reds, and oranges... Very quaint, I thought... But... different strokes for different folks, and all that... Thanks again...

The Cane e Gatto is not open for lunch--just for dinner ( the dinner last about 3-4 hours)---I guess lunch would run into dinner!!!!!! <BR>Enjoy! <BR>Mary

We were in San Gimignano for a couple of hours on a weekday right after Easter. We were with a tour group and had been to Siena that morning. San G struck us as almost too "picture perfect" - lots of tourists, shops almost totally devoted to tourist items, although very attractive. No street peddlars as in Florence or Rome. Somehow it reminded us of Williamsburg, etc. - recreated and rebuilt and polished just for us! I enjooyed Siena more; although there were still lots of tourists, we did get the feel that "real people" lived there. I'd love to go to other towns in Tuscany, on our own. Next trip! <BR>Con

Carin, <BR> <BR>Excellent report. I have visited this region extensively and I think that you alocated a reasonable amount of time to the area that you covered. I also agree with your asessments, especially Siena, my favorite city in Tuscany. (The view from the unfinished nave can't be beat). <BR> <BR>Anyone who is thinking of trying to cover Rome, Pompei, Tuscany, Florence, Assisi and Venice in a week would be well advised to follow your itineray instead. It's a winner. Glad you had a good time.

Carin, I couldn't even wait until I finished reading your trip report when I saw you loved Il Barrrocio. I had never seen that restaurant recommended for the whole year I planned my trip. My husband and I stumbled on it one day and it was the best meal I have had in a long time.It is in my Florence trip report. I am so glad someone else found it too. Karen

Carin, I can't believe I didn't read your report before I left on June 3rd. I read Fodors everyday for months. I also felt that the Duomo was not as fancy as I expected on the inside. As far as the Accademia, I liked it but like I posted last week, I kept looking at the right hand of the David. I thought it was way out of sync with the rest of the statue. Then thanks to Elaine, she explained to me why it was supposed to be larger. She saved me from thinking I was the only one who ever thought that. I loved your report. You sound as excited as I was when I posted my Rome and Florence reports this month. I made alot of mistakes, but I was so anxious to share, I just was going too fast. You have given me the incentive to post my Venice and Tuscany reports now. I also was not bowled over with San G. I liked Volterra better.In Tuscany we stayed very close to Monteriggioni and ate at the second or maybe even a tie for best restaurant on the whole trip. Il Pozzo great food!!!!! Has anyone else eaten there?
