Tuscany-train&car rental help
I'm planning to arrive in Rome and take the train to Chiusi. Rent a car in Chiusi and stay 6 nites in Montepulciano.
Then travel to Cinque Terre for a few nites. Then head to Civitavecchia to catch a cruise. My questions are: If I drop the car back off in Chiusi, how can I get by train to Cinque Terre? Am I better off dropping the car in Florence? And getting to Civitavecchia from Cinque Terre- what is the best way to do that? Grateful for your help. :) Nancy |
Hi Pet,
Why not keep the car and drop it in Civitavecchia. Train schedules are at www.trenitalia.com ((I)) |
Hi Nancy - Chiusi to the Cinque Terre is a 4-5 hr train ride - usually with 2 changes.
It might be more convenient to drive - and drop your car off in La Spezia. Train from Cinque Terre to Civitavecchia takes approx. 4 hrs - depending on your departure time. Most trains require a change at Pisa or La Spezia. For train timetables/fares: www.trenitalia.com Hope this helps ... Steve |
You'll just have to park the car for your time on the Cinque Terre. Hence the recommendation to drop it at La Spezia.
However, if you're taking the train from the CT to Civitavecchia, allow one night in Rome, just in case there are train problems (strikes, etc). |
Mimar - Nancy wouldn't need to go via Rome to get to Civitavecchia. It's a straight ride down the coast ...
