Tuscany self guided walk plus Umbria Itinerary advise on travel times

As I remember it was only about a 10 minutes drive between Assisi and Spello.

I also enjoyed Assisi and thought it was very beautiful. So many churches to see! I had a little over a day there and didn't make it to all that I wanted to see.

Yes, like all the hilltowns, Assisi gets much more quiet at night once all the day trippers and tour buses leave. During the day it is packed! I couldn't even get an English language audioguide since they were all sold out.

In Spello the only other visitors I saw were in a small (26pp) tour group at breakfast also staying at the Palazzo Bocci. One day I walked up to the topmost point of town and visited a while with a couple from Belgium who were also enjoying the views. Never saw any other visitors. The busiest day of the town was market day, and believe me I was definitely the only visitor there.

For me, Spello was just perfect.
