Tuscany need area recommendation
Hi,
My family and I will be in Tuscany the 3rd week of July. Can anyone recommend a villa that is close to Florence, walking distant to a town, has a pool, maid service and sleeps 8? Thanks

I just rented a villa through Tuscany.net although it the villa is outside Siena. I was VERY pleased with their service and their website has great pictures of each of their 100+ propertes all over Tuscany.

Hi Bob,
Hey that wasn't very nice!!! Are you the same bobthenavigator that wrote for Slow Travel Italy the Italy Travel Budget for 2004. If so maybe you can give me some advice. In total we will be in Italy for 15 days fly into Rome, Florence and end in Tuscany and want to make the most of our time.
Thanks Bob

That was not meant to be unkind. If you are new here you may not realize that the best source for info is to search the archives. Most of the questions asked here have been answered many times--why wait to get partial info when it is already here?
I have several articles at slowtrav.com including the budget--check out the " 22 terrific tips".

We (my wife and I) stayed in one of the apartments (Melograno) at Palagio which was just outside Panzano (not within walking distance but probably less than a mile from the town center). We really loved Palagio, Panzano and that particular area of Tuscany. Palagio has maid service and a pool but does not have a single apartment big enough for 8. Florence and Sienna are both about 45 minutes from Panzano and we spent a day in each. If you are looking to rent an entire villa or absolutely require walking distance to the town, Palagio would not work for you but I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great villa with a fantastic view. It is not luxurious but it fit the bill for what my wife and I wanted - a nice place with some character and a view. We really enjoyed sitting on the balcany with a glass of wine at dusk looking out over the valley and listening to church bells ring in the distance. My idea of heaven!!! By the way, they make their own wine and olive oil, both of which are delicious.
