Tuscany hotels
 

On my 15 night honeymoon four nights will be reserved for Tuscany exclusively. We would like to go to a wine tasting and have a cooking lesson during our stay. I've received recommendation such as: Locanda D'ell amorosa and Castello di Spaltenna in Chianti.

I think both are beautiful! Does anyone have any other hotel recommendations?

What type of accommodation are you looking for...2*, 3*, 4*? And how much do you want to spend per night?

I'm looking for a four star/five star costing approximately $400 per night with flexibility since this is my honeymoon.

The two properties that have been recommended to you are incredible. Stick with those...there are so many others in Tuscany but those two are tops...

I have already given you my best advice. Did you not like them? Location is everything in Tuscany.

My daughter has been taking cooking lessons in Siena and has absolutely loved them and is also familiar with wine tastings in the area. I'm going to e-mail this to her and hope that she has time to answer (she's a student and VERY busy).

You can't go wrong with Locanda dell Amorosa. We stayed there and it was magical.

A friend of mine has a sister who lived in Perugia and runs a cooking class with an Italian friend. Here is the web page. It looks great and may work out as Perugia I don't think is too far afield from Chianti.

Locanda dell'Amorosa is a beautiful hotel with very helpful staff. The night we ate at their restaurant, however, was another matter entirely. The food was wretched and service was the worst ever in what is billed as a fine restaurant. Perhaps it was an anomolie because it was their opening night last year; but, it was so bad, I would not consider giving a second chance. Other good restaurants are a significant drive, especially at night if you are unfamiliar with the roads. Be advised.

I haven't been to this property but already plan to stay there for our next trip to Tuscany based on reviews I've read recently.....Villa Vignamaggio near Greve in Chianti.
This hotel has a winery and produces olive oil as well, which would add to your experience. We loved Greve and it would be quite central for your exploring.

The other hotels sound wonderful but if you haven't made a decision, it doesn't hurt to look! tuscany.net/vignamaggio
