Tuscany honeymoon accomodation / base location
Hi all,
My fiancee and I are getting married next June and we are planning a Venice / Tuscany honeymoon. We plan to spend around 5 nights in Tuscany - I am after a few tips please: 1. Accomodation - we are after the picture postcard Tuscan farmhouse set around olive groves and fields etc. Budget is up to €300 per night for B & B. Looking for a romantic setting. 2. Base location - we will be renting a car so looking for a countryside location but within easy reach of the main Tuscan towns - would like to see Florence, Pisa etc but happy to drive an hour ish either way to get there 3. Food - food and wine are important for the trip so looking for an area with lots of good restaurants which isn't usually too difficult to find in Pisa. A village with restaurants in walking distance would be ideal. Look forward to any help anyone can give and thanks in advance. Adam |
We haven't stayed here yet but have reserved for a week over new years 2013/2014.
http://www.santantonio.it/ It is outside of montepulciano (they have places in town as well) and my friend had her wedding there three years ago and highly recommended it to us. |

I stayed here last summer with my family, but there were many couples there as well. It was romantic (even with the kids), centrally located and most importantly, the people were so wonderful.
http://www.letorri.net/ They have some lovely one bedroom apartments on site and each place has its own outdoor area, either a terrace or a patio. |
>>>we are after the picture postcard Tuscan farmhouse<<<
>>>A village with restaurants in walking distance would be ideal.<<< You won't find many farmhouses in walking distance. There are nice hotels and B&B's if you want to be able to walk to dinner. Proximity to Florence/Pisa is not really practical for dinner since both have ZTL's. |
Can't argue with bobthenavigator's recommendations...but if they don't work out, we stayed at Frances Lodge outside of Siena and loved it. Beautiful views, bountiful breakfasts, great base for day trips in Tuscany.
