Tuscany

Looking for advice about place to stay for three days/nights in Tuscany in July. Just a touch of Flo and maybe San Geminiano. We are there for a memorial and will be back for longer next year.
So we have three full days but do not have to be in exclusive $$$ hotels (or want to be) or necessarily in Florence. We were looking at Katti Hotel in Flo but the reviews scared us...they were all over the place. Any ideas?

Take a look at Il Salviatino. It is 15 minutes from the center of Florence, just over the line in Fiesole, and they have a complimentary scheduled shuttle into and out of the center of Florence. Free parking, and a great base for exploring Tuscany.

It is considered a luxury hotel, but prices are much more reasonable than in town ... and it has a beautiful swimming pool.

If you book through a "Virtuoso travel consultant" (google it), you'll also receive the following free amenities.

Upgrade on arrival, subject to availability
Continental breakfast daily, for up to two in room guests
$100 USD Spa Services credit, to be utilized during stay
With a 3+ day stay, 100 EUR food and beverage credit.

(Same price as online, and no booking fees).

My wife and I stayed at Villa il Poggiale two years ago. www.villailpoggiale.it/ Our stay there for five nights was one of our most memorable in our thirty years of travel. Fantastic dinners and breakfast, walking amongst the olive trees and countryside while only two miles from a quaint village with excellent restaurants and shopping. If you have time book the wine tour with wine dinner at Osteria di Passignano about an hour away. An excellent dinner, outstanding service and included wonderful Antinori wines and vinegars. Enjoy Tuscany, my favorite part of the world.

If you do stay at Villa il Poggiale ask for Suite #2. It has a private secluded courtyard for afternoon wine or romantic evenings. I also forgot to include the address of the restaurant.

If the main spot of your trip is Tuscany and not Florence, so I wouldn't miss the chance to wake up in the countryside, which can be a mystic experience in Tuscany.
The singing of birds, the sunset over the hills ..
I would suggest Casolare di Terre Rosse http://www.hotelterrerosse.com/ a holidays farmhouse near San Gimignano.
In their inner restaurant you can taste truffle and traditional dishes.
