Hello,
My husband and I want to spend a couple days in Tuscany. I know this may be a silly question, but if we are in Florence, is there a way to get there without driving? How far is it? Can anyone reccomend any good hotels? thank you!

If you are asking how far Florence is from Tuscany, the answer is: Not very far. Florence is IN Tuscany.

Hi Jenni - Florence is in Tuscany, so you are already there. :)

If you wanted to experience a smaller town than Florence without a car, you might consider Siena as a hub. It is 1-2 hours by train but you could also take a bus. From there you could get bus or train transportation to other towns like Montepulchiano or Montalcino or San Gimignano among others. Siena is a beautiful town and there is much to see and do just there. Do you have 2 days/1 night to do side trip?

Jenni - You can visit many places from Florence without a car - Lucca, Pisa, Orvieto, Cortona, Siena, S. Gimignano, Arezzo ... to name a few :)

We went to Florence two months ago. One of the best days we had was when we took a tour into the Tuscan countryside. The company we used was Walking Tours of Florence, and we we selected "The Best of Tuscany" tour. We're not really "tour" people, but this one was so much fun. It was my husband and I, and three other couples in a small van with an English-speaking guide. We spent the morning in San Gimignano, drove through the Tuscan countryside and had a lovely lunch and cellar tour at a wine estate in the hills, then went to Siena for a couple of hours in the afternoon. It was very laid back and unstructured, and a great way to see a lot in one day.
