I have 4 days for Tuscany. Where should I spend my time?

First of all, have you been to Tuscany/Italy before? If so, where did you go? You might want to see some other places the 2nd time around. If not, then besides seeing the ovious "biggies" (Florence and Pisa), I would go to Lucca. It is a wonderful, walled town known for its churches and towers. It is easily accessible via train and in close proximity to Florence.

Siena.

Florence, Siena..For 4 days, more than enough..Do not bother with Pisa..It is a run-down provincial town that has a poorly designed tower. :))

I have never understood the fascination with some renaissance tower (not even a great architectural feat compared to many others in Italy) that happens to be on sinking ground..Not to elaborate on the engineering failings of the structure (I would have fired Mr Pisano for not choosing a better site :)) ), but few hundered years ago it was not such a big deal as today, and that only after they have invested millions to make sure it will stand in its present inclination.

If you ask me, the only fascinating thing I find about it is that Mr Gallileo *supposedly* used to conduct his experiments from it. In all probability, though, the man is just from Pisa and never thought of the tower as a laboratory...

My vote would be for Siena.
