Tuscany
 

We are travelling in a campervan around the Tuscany area for about 2.5 weeks end of Sept/Oct
We are looking forward to exploring rural villages , wine areas , local markets . Clearly needing some recommended campsites and happy to use our bikes to get out and about .
Love some ideas to help form our itinerary

We last visited Tuscany late September 2016. I cant help with campsites, as we usually rent a car and stay in B&BS/agriturismos, but can provide some input with route/itinerary planning, basis our experience.

After picking up a car in Florence, we drove down the Chiantigiana (see https://www.chianti.com/traveling-through-chianti.html) and broke journey in Siena for a few nights (for Siena itself and exploring San Gimignano/Volterra,etc.). We then detoured through the Crete Senesi and based ourselves just outside Montalcino (for Val D'Orcia) for a few nights. Many would agree that the most spectacular scenery in Tuscany is in Val D'orcia, with lots of interesting places to visit nearby - San Quirico, Pienza, Montepulciano etc.

Can I ask where you stayed just outside Montalcino?

We stayed at Agriturismo La Crociona.
