This could be a new thread but I prefer to continue the regular annual thread, reporting on the new situation, including visa reprisals with USA, Hostage situations with Germany and USA, Invasion of Russia, Turkish purchase of Russian missile systems despite Nato and US concerns, and relations with Iran as they pertain to travelers to Turkey as tourists or for business.

If you can get here, hotels have become extremely low priced, food is so so, transportation is reasonably priced. antique sites empty and easy to visit. (see my blog, www.otherchelebistravels)

Currently USA closed down visa offices in Turkey for all but immigrant visas. Turkey, in reprisal, stopped issue of visas to all Americans on-line or at the borders.

Turkey invaded Syria and not Russia this morning.

What a shame with Turkey and their politics. It was always on my bucket list but certainly not a safe place to visit anymore.

Situation is still tense.

the visa situation was resolved yesterday, although anti-American statements by Turkish government continue.

The government may make anti-American statements, but I saw none of that sentiment last week in Istanbul, which is a wonderful place to visit.

Really? Trump, when all is said and done, be known as the most despicable character in American history. In one year he is already the most corrupt and damaging administration in our history and when Mueller will show all sorts of illegal connections to Russia.

The Trump name will surpass Benedict Arnold or any American villain as a name to scorn. One reason is that historians have other sources of information besides Fox and Sarah Huckabee.

It will take at least 30 years for America to recover from Trump.

Can we keep this about Turkey, please?
