Turkey logistics help, please
3 travelling to Turkey Oct 22, return to Vancouver Nov 7, 2015.
Our itinerary so far: Oct 23 - 28, Istanbul Oct 29 - 31, Fly Istanbul to Kayseri Airport for Cappadocia Nov 01 - 05, This is where we need your help: can one fly direct Kayseri or Nevsehir to Izmir airport for the Aegean coast area? Nov 06, Fly back to Istanbul Nov 07, Return to Vancouver 1. Can you fly Istanbul to Kayseri/Nevsehir/Izmir or do you have to return to Istanbul for each leg? 2. If we don't fly, are bus and/or train comfortable and reliable? One of us doesn't want to rent a car. Thanks for your help. |
I'm sorry that I can't answer your main questions, but I do have a question for you:
Have you considered putting all of your time in Istanbul at the end of your trip? It seems that you need to be there for your return to Vancouver, and since Istanbul's international airport is some distance from the city, you might be able to use your time a bit more efficiently by going straight to Cappadocia -- you'll be tired anyways! Just a thought.... |
That's a thought, kja, but I don't think my friends will go for that. This is a fair distance for them and I think they will want to stop at Istanbul. But ....
Anybody else? |
We took Pegasus Airlines from Kayseri to Izmir back in 2013. I haven't checked but I imagine that they still fly that route. They are a discount airline but everything about the flight was fine. You'd probably need to check how much checked luggage is permitted.
If interested take a look at my trip report: http://www.fodors.com/community/euro...rip-report.cfm Greg |
Also SunExpress fly from Kayseri to İzmir.
|
I suppose you know that November is very late for the Aegean coast area. If it's for stunning antique sites, I would rather go to Antalya (Perge, Side, Aspendos.....)
|
www.skyscanner.com is good for flights within Europe, especially one-way flights.
|
Home from work now, thanks everybody for your input, I will definitely check out the two discount airlines and skyscanner. Yes, neckervd, one of us has work constraints and late October/early Nov is the only window for our trip.
