Turkey itinerary with Greece add-on
Am looking at 15 days in Turkey end April 2013, to see Istanbul, Galliopoli/Troy, Ephesus, Pammakule, Konya, Cappadocia and Antalya. I want at 2 full days at Cappadocia and 4 at Istanbul, is this doable? It's going to be rushed and we'll probably only get to spend a day at most of the other places, but can't be helped!
I know most of you suggest DIY but am a little wary dealing with all the minor details such a trip would entail and am wondering whether it mightn't be simpler to just go with a guided tour, one of those which have small groups of 10-12 people. What do you suggest?
I was thinking end April/early May should be good, longer days but still not too hot, though I'm a little concerned about rain.
Am also considering adding an extra week to Athens and one island, either Santorini or Mykonos. Understand there are some cheap flights Istanbul-Athens, how good/convenient are they? Guess I'll start a separate thread for the Greek part if we are able to take extra time off.

If you want to join an organized tour contact a Turkish travel agency for assistance. I know this man and respect his business: Murat Ozguc: http://www.travelatelier.com

End of April will still be Tulip time in Istanbul.
What rain there is will not be continuous.
Antalya sea water currently 18 degrees Centigrade.
Adding Konya to your itinerary will necessitate long bus rides and I do not think that Konya is an important city to visit unless you are a conservative moslem or a follower of Roumi.
Otherwise, you can do what you wish within 15 days, without overy tiring yourself as long as you stick to the main attractions and forego some personal breathing time.
Bora jet has a few flights a week from istanbul to Mykonos.
You can also take short ferry to Rhodes, Samos or Chios from the Turkish Aegean shores.
All Turkish travel agencies with Tursab credentials should be dependable. Make sure that they carry the necessary insurance, which will cover you even if they go bankrupt and do not pay the hotels.

Thanks brotherleelove, will check it out.
Otherchelebi, interesting comment about Konya, I've just started planning this trip and haven't really looked at a map to place the various cities. Have read so much about the sufi mystics at Konya that I thought it was a must-see. Am leaving out Ankara too, don't believe I'll have the time.
Yes, heard about the ferry from Kusadasi to Samos and then Mykonos, but maybe the flight might be much faster?
Anyway, am getting excited just talking about all these places, Turkey's been on my wish list for simply ages
