Turkey for two weeks??

Hi everyone. TravelTeeth.com has published, what seems to be, a great deal for a 2-week tour to Turkey. It's for $1,500. I just wonder if 2 weeks is way too long for just Turkey? Any insight? Is there enough to see for 2 weeks?

Turkey is a very large country and you cannot see it all in 2 weeks. Where does the tour travel? You can easily spend 5 days in Istanbul alone.

Hmmm ! How did you know about our Thanksgiving left overs?

ekscrunchy Nov 25th, 2007 12:57 PM

That is funny, Bob. I am glad the tour is not longer!

I was there for 2 weeks in August. I would need to go back several many more times to see what interested me. You will only scratch the surface.

I was in Turkey in May 2005 for 15 days, extended my trip three days, and still felt that I could not get enough of the place. Can't wait to return.

We're another family that two weeks did not cover all we wanted to see.

Well, this caught my eye! What's the catch?

Having never been there, and being the curious and insatiable traveler that I am, I dare say 2 weeks may just begin to crack the surface of such a historic country.

Well; you can even spend 2 weeks at two districts of Istanbul alone....

All depends on your interests ofcourse. 2 weeks is a good time for an introduction of the country and for you to get a bit of flavour of it.....

Try not to expand your travel itinerary if you are travelling independent. Max. 3 or 4 place at this time.
If its an organized trip than its organized anyway so you do not have to worry. The prica bracket you mention is a bargain.

Happy travelling,

Murat

Ditto what the other posters have said. Two weeks is the MINIMUM amount of time I'd want to spend in Turkey. You could easily spend a month, and still not see it all.

I would advise researching the areas that you want to visit and checking hotel prices before booking the tour. You may find that you can do it yourself for less money. There are many small hotels and B&BS in Turkey that are lovely places to stay and pretty inexpensive.

I would advise that you have a read through the many pages of the Turkey Travel Planner http://www.turkeytravelplanner.com/

And like the rest have said you cannot see all the wonderful places in Turkey in just 2 weeks.

spent 5 weeks there and still didn't have enough time. could be because i spent 3 of those 5 weeks in goreme (cappadocia region) touring around there and hanging out with the locals. quite an amazing country and definitely deserving of at least 2 weeks.
