Turin Itinerary Help Needed
Hi. We are 2 couples in a car, driving from the lake Lugano (where our first part of the trip is) - mid May. We are staying in Turin for 2 full days and then driving to Bologna.
In Turin, I want to cover as much history and culture as possible without doing to much. Here is my itinerary for the 2 days. Tell me if that is too much, if so tell me what to remove. Also, am I missing something important? DAY 1 Piazza San Carlo Palazzo Reale Di Torino - Royal Palace Piazza Castello Galleria Sabauda (Armeria Reale) Mole Antonelliana Piazza Vittorio Veneto DAY 2 Borgo Medievale Chiesa di Santa Maria del Monte dei Cappuccini Basilica of Superga Museo Pietro Micca - underground Museum Santuario Basilica La Consolata Thanks |
Hi, mfeldman1969, I think it's alot but you may be faster on your feet than we were! If you haven't reserved ahead, plan for extra time!
Here's a link to maitaitom's restaurant review that has a good Turin section. He and others also have TRs: https://www.fodors.com/community/eur...tions-1656484/ My DH and I spent 2 nights there: https://www.fodors.com/community/eur...gio-tr-947180/ Please share how it goes! |
If you have any interest, the Egyptian Museum, in my opinion, is top notch. Most of Turin's museums are pretty good, but it provides something different.
|
Yes planning on it the day we arrive - before the 2 full days....Museo Egizio.
So, because I cant add more days... in the 2 full days that I have, what would you eliminate? |
The Resistance Museum is definitely worth 2 hours of your time. You're asking what to cut out, not what to add, but you might find this to be very interesting. I did.

Of course I would not be able to cover full culture and everything Turin has to offer within 2.5 days. I get that. I dont want to also spend all of the days running through museums. I want to have a nice balance. I will visit the Museo Egizio, and thats the only one I think we will have time for. I have the list of other things. What am I missing from my list that is a must that would fit into my schedule? If something is a must than what should I remove from my schedule. We like everything but also dont want to run like maniacs to check off places that we have been. I also want to make sure there is a good balance of everything as well.

I suppose you checked the opening hrs of the museums.
Museo Egizio and Museo del Automobile are clcosed Monday afternoon, Palazza Madama is closed on Tuesdays, Royal Palace is closed on Mondays, Galleria Sabauda is closed on Wednesdays etc. etc. I supposed that you plan to drive from Bellagio via Como to Turin. Now you write that ou will come from Lugano. Anyway, on both itineraries there will be a lot to see. Therefore I really doubt whether you will arrive early enough for the visit of the Museo Egizio (there is stuff for more than a 1-2 hrs visit) which closes usually at 6.30pm |
Not from Lugano, from Bellagio. My mistake. so from Bellagio to Museo Egizio is about 3 hours give or take. If we come there at 3PM - for us it will be good enough to visit 1 section. We are not planning to tackle the whole thing. May 15 - which is a Friday.
|
Of course, there is not the slightest problem to do it in 3 hrs IF YOU DRIVE ON THE BORING MOTORWAY AND IF YOU BYPASS ALL THE GEMS between Bellagio and Torino.
|
I cannot help with Turin, because we are not city people, but here I want to warn you strongly to have a good look at any ZTL. It would be absolutely expensive if you enter one just by mistake, even if it is only a few meter.
