Hi, has anyone got any ideas for a four night stay in Turin? I have got a cheap flight and am looking for cheap and cheerful hotels plus any ideas for places to visit. Can anyone help? thanks
Jenny

Hi! I can't give you hotel advice, as my we have a family home in Biella, which is near Turin. We usually visit the great markets and cook so don't get to too many restaurants.

When there we always go to the Lakes region. Not Como, but Lake Orta (my personal favorite). There is an excellent restaurant right on the lake there, next to the piazza. Sorry I can't remember the name, but the food is fantastic as is the view, and it is amazingly inexpensive. There is one beautiful Hotel there right on the lake as well. It is a three star with a pool and is very elegant. The prices seemed reasonable as well. Perhaps if you do a search you can find it? We also venture a bit further to Stressa and visit Isola Bella and Isola Madre by ferry from Stressa. Definetely try to get to Madre. It's one of the most beautiful places on earth. You can also drive up to Monte Rosso. At the base of the mountain is the factory outlet shop for Ermengildo Zegna if your interested! I will try to get the name of that hotel for you and post again.

Jenny, the name of the hotel is Villa Crespi. They do have a website. Just do a search. It is a beautiful spot. Try to get to Orta and Stressa. You will not be disappointed!

So how was Turin and what sort of things did you do there? We are taking my son to study there in September and would like to travel on our own afterwards. Thanks for your help!

I stayed at Hotel Sasso in Turin and really liked it.

Curious, what is Biella like? I have heard about it and would love to visit one day...

Deelyn,

Biella is a small and quaint town. If you have just one day that should suffice for seeing the sites and enjoying a walk through the center: the sanctuary of Oropa and the gardens of Zegna are a bit out of town, but worth the visit. If you have an afternoon to kill (or more) there are many outlet stores in the outlying areas (E.Zegna, Piacenza (cashmere!), Cerruti to name a few). In Pollone (near the factory outlet of Piacenza) there is a one michelin star restaurant (il Patio).
