Or take a train from Haarlem or Leiden to Hillegom station - this station is out in the middle of nowhere and is surrounded by swatches of pulchritudinous flower fields. The station is just a raised platform so you have a perch to see blooms for miles around. There are benches on the platform so bring a picnic - few people around the station, so except for the occasional train you'll have the place to yourself. It'a about a 2-mile walk thru flower fields from here to Keukenhof - a stupendous floral fantasy that i highly recommend. But anyway you walk thru flower fields that in spring are an undulating sea of tulips. the flowers i believe are grown for the bulbs so the tulip plants are cut off and left to dry and supposedly then fed to cows. You'll see rows of dug up bulbs drying in the fields. Even without the Keukenhof being open a walk thru the flower fields, which bloom periodically throughout the growing season, always have something flowering. Mixed in with the fields are numerous greenhouses. Anyway the Hillegom rail station offers a tremendous view of the flower fields - perhaps like the image you imagined when you wanted a B & B in the fields - and i'll bet there are some rural B & Bs in the flower fields - hit the Lisse VVV Tourist Office web site or call them.
