Thanks Jeff for the info. I would really prefer to take a bus rather that the Tube, and am delighted to hear my pass is good for both. We were going to take a hop on-hop off bus our first day in London so we could stay awake, but now we can just use our pass.

It's typical of this site. I was going to post a query about the value of a travel pass and searched first: here's all I need. So I'm topping so I can find it again. Thanks to all who answer these things. Invaluable!

One tidbit that might not appear in this thread is that the passes cost more if you order them in advance and IIRC you get voucher that must be exchanged only at certain tube stations. IMHO, you should just wait and buy a daily or weekly pass after you gget there, the same passes Londoners use.
