Trying to pick a location
 

I am planning a surprise trip for my wife and I am torn between taking her to either Barcelona, Spain or Athens, Greece. I only have 3 full days. Any recommendations? I will be traveling in February 2004.

Well, you haven't given us much of a clue of what the two of you like to do. And although, I found Athens a pleasant surprise after all the bad rap it tends to get, I don't think I'd hesitate. Three days in Barcelona sounds pretty great to me.

I second the vote for Barcelona. it is one of the hottest destinations in the world at the moment. There is so much to do there, so much to see. A nice place to visit in February. By the way, where are you flying in from? I hope that you when you say you only have 3 full days, that is not counting travel.

This is a surprise trip. She will know 3 days before. We both like historical sites and lots of culture.

I've been to both and they are very, VERY different..but whether or not Barcelona is "hot" right now (does that really mean that people who write in travel magazines have finally figured out that it is a great city????) or not is immaterial. I'd definitely go for Barcelona and I'd try to stay in or near the Gothic Quarter...you'll have a wonderful three days there.

It does depend on where you are starting your trip and the aim of this surprise. I'm thinking sex. In that case Barcelona, sheets down.

Will you marry me when you're done with her?
