Hi! I've spent a couple of hours in Marburg. It is a very quaint little town, with a nice castle at the top, and many many half-timbered houses. It also has a large university, I believe, so there should be a decent selection of bars & pubs. It's hilly, and all the squares and public buildings (city hall, etc.) are very old and nice.
If you're up for a day at a Spa, go to Bad Wildungen, maybe an hour's drive north, where they have a bunch of nice places to do spa-stuff.
Hope this helps, sorry I can't be specific.

Rob-
Thanks for your post. I may try the spa, but I'm really looking for more info on museums, art galleries, gardens. Is it a nice city for wandering around? Any specific sites not to be missed that anyone knows of?
Thanks.
Jane
