Trying again... B+Bs you loved in Ireland
 

<BR>I tried to post this question a few hours ago but didn't receive any answer, so I am posting it again: <BR>I know that this subject keeps coming up. <BR>But, would you all the "Ireland expertsand lovers" be so kind and share with us your experiences, and tell us about the sweetest, nicest and reasonably priced B+Bs all over Irelan, that you you had the good fortune to stay in? <BR>We are going to Ireland in 10 days and will highly appreciate any recommendations. <BR>Thanks, <BR>Ada

Hi Ada, we will be going to Ireland on Aug. 14. We will be in Dingle 2 nights, Galway 3 nights and Dublin 3 nights. We are staying at Milltown House in Dingle, and I checked around and found good reviews here and elsewhere about Milltown House In Galway, we decided to do the Galway Harbor Hotel, it is brand new and close to town center. In Dublin, we will be staying at a pub/B&B called O'Niell's Pub and Townhouse(oneillsdublin.com). It should be differant and interesting. This forum has lots of B&B recs, that is how I picked some of my B&Bs. Hope we cross paths in Ireland. Have fun, Judy :-)

Ada, <BR> <BR>I stayed in hotels during my trip to Ireland. However, if you haven't already visited Pat Preston's website about travel in Ireland I strongly reccomed it. A fabulous message board. Pat answers all questions and so do her loyal readers. Just a wealth of information. I was really happy to find it. Have fun in Ireland. Here's the address for the message boards. Ada, why do you think there would be "hidden treasures"? Do you really believe that there are B&B operators that don't register with their local tourist office, don't try to get into guide books, don't advertise in any way? And if there are indeed such places, don't you think it would be a breach of trust for us to reveal what they want to keep secret?

Dear Ada - <BR> We stayed at Tailors Lodge, Killegane, Casteleisland, Co. Kerry and loved it. It's almost a brand new B&B. <BR> We had a very nice room with private bath. The owners, the O'Sullivans, live on the premises. Mrs. O'Sullivan is a terrific cook. They're a lovely family and really made us Californias feel welcome. <BR> Their telephone #: 066-7142170 (don't know the prefix - I got the # from their business card).

Ada, <BR> <BR>Try www.hidden-ireland.com for unusual type of B&Bs - a bit more upmarket and pricey but in wonderful old style houses, <BR> <BR>Hope this helps, <BR> <BR>Cathy

Have you made your Dublin reservations yet-or were you planning on staying there at all? B&Bs fill up in August, so if you're going by the seat of your pants, you'll have a hard time finding somewhere to stay in the more popular areas--start looking early in the day, or have the nearest Tourist Info center call ahead to book for you. You could try the Hidden Ireland houses too, they really are fabulous....

Here are two of my favorite B&B's <BR>Near the Cliffs of Moher, is Moher Lodge Farmhouse. The quietness of this home was amazing. The view from our bedroom window was the rolling green hills you see in post cards. <BR>My second is in Dingle on the Conor Pass Road. It's the Duinin House, again the view was of rolling hills. The sitting rooms was loaded with books on Ireland, the breakfast was great. I remember having porridge with Bailey Irish Cream floating on top. <BR>Yep,J_Jake there are many hidden treasures since there are so many B&B's in Ireland.

Some great suggestions and advice. <BR>Don't worry, Kathleen, I found a place that sounds very promising in Dublin for our first 2 nights, and another B+B that was recommended by a friend for the last night (near Drogeda). If they really turn to be nice as expected, I will share the information upon my return. <BR>And... Jake, I do hope that you wouldn't cosider it , how did you call it? A breach of trust?... <BR>Ada
