Trummelbach Falls - how difficult to get to?

My research and other posts suggest that the climb in to see Trummelbach Falls is steep and takes about 45 minutes, which is likely too much for our poor old legs. Is there any part of it worth seeing without the climb? Is this a "top of the list" place to see while in the area? We are not hikers so are looking for beautiful sights that are easily accessed.
Thanks in advance for your expertise!

Personally I didn't find the falls particularly interesting when I was there (it was a September). To me they are a tourist attraction. I much preferred my walk along the long flat floor of the Lauterbrunnen Valley, beside the river, looking up at the grand mountains. I wouldn't have missed that walk for the world. I could have skipped the Trummelbach falls.

Others can speak to the issues of hiking and fatigue. I'm a sort of marathon hiker, step climber and walker, so I'm not good at remembering the difficulties.

I do want to walk the Lauterbrunnen Valley floor. Thanks for the reassurance that it is flat. Do you recall how long a walk it is distance wise? Where would be the starting and stopping points? If it is very long, is there any transportation back to the start? Sorry, this is probably difficult for someone who is athletic to understand ;) We are trying to get into better walking shape but it's hard to do while working hard to earn the money to make the trip!

Hi drchris -

When we last walked from Trummelbach Falls to Lauterbrunnen, it took us about 45 minutes. The path is completely level and paved.

We've also walked from Lauterbrunnen to Stechelberg, which is also mostly paved and level. If memory serves, it took us about 90 minutes give or take.

There is bus transport from Lauterbrunnen-Trummelbach-Stechelberg (where you catch the cable car up to Murren). The bus also stops in Schutzenbach, which is located between Trummelbach and Lauterbrunnen (from Schutzenbach it's about a four minute drive to Lauterbrunnen, or a 15 minute walk).

There's also a very nice walk from Lauterbrunnen to Zweilutschinen, an easy level path that follows the Weisse Lutschine (river). It's about 2.5 miles, paved. You can catch a train back to Lauterbrunnen or continue on to Grindelwald or Interlaken from Zweilutschinen.

Almost forgot...

I don't recall the Trummelbach Falls being particularly steep, but it's been several years since I visited them. I don't personally consider the falls a 'must see', but others will no doubt disagree.

I did hike over the falls once, and I won't be doing that again, but that's a different animal altogether!
