Trouble with Aerobus in Barcelona
I had always thought we would take the Aerobus from the airport to the main square in Barcelona--UNTIL I read on several travels forums that pick pockets wait for tourists to get off the Aero and zoom in for the kill. They were saying that the train into the Placa is a far less dangerous way to go....now the problem---I hear the train station is very far from the airport. What to do???

Just take the one you like the most.
Pickpockets wait for tourists in the Aero, in the train station, in Barcelona, in China or in NYC. You just have to be as careful as you are at home with your belongings. The train station from the aiport do you mean ? It's not far, it is connected with the terminal ! Anyway, you always can take a taxi..about 15-20 euros. |
We took the areobus and were not bothered at all. I would consider the train/subway if I wasn't carrying too much luggage.

December 23 2004 We were standing with
luggage for the three of us waiting for the Aerobus (Placa de Cataluna) Our daughter went to look for postcards. My husband and I stood around casually when a little, old man came up and warned us about the Arabs who might take our luggage. We thanked him and watched our luggage. No problem. I had taken the Aerobus a few times before. Your chance of getting pickpocketed in Barcelona are very good...You don't have to take the Aerobus for an opportunity, but I was amused that the man blamed the Arabs. before March 11 (Madrid bombing) the scapegoats would have been the gypsies. I loved seeing the beautiful long minks we never see in political correct but very cold Madison, WI. The local socialites were wearing their furs and hanging on very tightly to labeled handbags held in front of them. Pickpockets don't discriminate. The locals have equal opportunity. |
The train station is connected with the terminals by a covered bridge with 'rolling floors' (don't know the correct name in English).

The train station is a hike from the terminal, but not an insufferable one. The train stops at the Sants train station and Placa Catalunya, and the bus goes to Placa Catalunya. There really isn't much difference in price, and if you're mindful of your stuff, pickpocketing won't be an issue.
