Trouble purchasing Palau de la Musica tickets online

I tried purchasing tickets to a concert at Palau de la Musica online just now off of https://www.palaumusica.org for a show in October.

I was using a Capital One Mastercard, but I was never asked what type of card I had (Visa, Master Card). After putting all the information in, I got a message that the transaction was rejected by my bank. I called Capital One, who did not see any transactions like this on my account, but told me there were no problems with my account.

I'm wondering what the problem was with this, and whether the venue website had all the information needed to make the transaction.

Has anyone had this problem? I didn't see mention of it anywhere. Any advice?

Thanks!

sguglielmo,

I am not the greatest knowledge on this, but is, almost certainly, a security and/or software compatibility issue.

If you have a Visa card, use it. If you have a Visa card and are not enrolled in the Verified By Visa programme, register, (sorry no recollection of how to do this). However, at the point of purchase, you should be asked to provide your Verified By Visa password or if you do not have one will be invited to register. Then if this does not go through, advise your provider you wish to make the purchase and in Spain and try again.

Having advised all this, you probably will say you have no Visa card!

Come on back.

Best wishes.

Thanks for the replies. I do have a Visa card, but didn't use it for this attempted purchase. The problem is that I wasn't asked what type of card it was when making the purchase. I think I will just try to call them.

I had a similar problem trying to buy Palau tickets on their website a few years ago, and needed to call the ticket office directly. Furtunately, I have a credit card that has a a "concierge service" associated with it, and they are capable of doing pretty much anything. I called the 800 number and spoke to a representative, who promptly found someone on their staff who spoke English, Spanish and Catalan, placed the international call from their end, purchased the tickets with my credit card number, and made sure the tickets were waiting for me at will call. (BTW, I have also used this service to make dinner reservations in Paris, Rome, Florence and Venice weeks before arrival -- far more reliable than e-mailing the hotel conceirge.) Check to see if one of your credit cards has a concierge service associated with it - it really works.
