I am an AOL user and was having trouble posting until I deleted my Cookies. Click on "Start" bottom left. Then click on "run", when that window comes up, type in "coolies" When all your cookies come up highlight and delete them all except "index" Then turn off your computer and reboot. Worked for me!

CD, wouldn't you type in "cookies," not "coolies?" I'm a Mac user and may not know about such things :-)

cd Nov 17th, 2003 03:12 PM

"cooKies" it is, sorry about that!

kismetchimera Nov 17th, 2003 06:21 PM

cd, I did not realized that i have hundreds of cookies...Is there a faster ways to delete them at one time? or I must delete it one by one?

cd Nov 17th, 2003 06:37 PM

Kismet
That is probably why you are having trouble. I forget to delete mine also and then have tons to get of. You can highlight all of them (except not "index". you have to keep that one)Anyway, just hold on your mouse left click and move down until they are all highlighted then hit Delete. It will remove all that are highlighted.

We use Internet Explorer. Deleting cookies is easy. All you have to do is Right click on the Internet Explorer icon, then click PROPERTIES. A small gray window will open up....there will be three sections in that small gray window. The middle sections will say TEMPORARY INTERNET FILES. Click on DELETE COOKIES and then click OK.

As far as I know, that's the easiest way to do it. If I've been doing it wrong for the last 3 years, someone let me know!

BrimhamRocks Nov 18th, 2003 02:37 AM

Meant to specify.... on the gray window that opens when you click on PROPERTIES, there are several tabbed sections. The one that should be on top, the first tabbed section, should have three sections on it that say HOME PAGE, TEMPORARY INTERNET FILES and HISTORY. The middle section on that first tab, the TEMPORARY INTERNET FILES section, is the one you want.

As I said, though....if I've been doing it the wrong way all this time, someone let me know! :)

Thanks cd, :):)

I deleted all my cookies - there were over 300! I was able to do a search after that, but still not able to post. Now I'm using a computer somewhere else, so let's see if this works!

Sue4 Nov 18th, 2003 01:41 PM

well, it's working on this computer, but not mine! I think Christina must be right about AOL. Think I'll get rid of them, but need to figure out what to replace them with. Thanks to everybody for all the help.

cd Nov 18th, 2003 02:23 PM

Sue
Did you shut your computer down and then reboot? If not, you need to do that before it works. :-)

Sue4 Nov 18th, 2003 02:31 PM

Now I'm back on my computer, still trying. CD, yes, I did shut down and re-boot.

Sue4 Nov 18th, 2003 02:34 PM

Yea!! It worked! Maybe the shutdown computer just needed a little more time.
This is really something. One thing I learned from all this is to get rid of cookies (whatever they are). Anyway, I love this forum - everyone is so helpful.
