Trouble posting!!

I've been trying to post a reply for 2 days now, and haven't been able to. Anyone else having this problem?

Sue4 Nov 15th, 2003 05:21 PM

Ah, finally it worked. Wonder what happened before. I got out and logged in, went to my "profile", etc. I've been very frustrated!

Flyboy Nov 15th, 2003 05:26 PM

Welcome back. Chalk it off to the mysteries of Information Technology. :)

Thanks everybody, for the encouragement, will keep trying! Maybe get rid of AOL!

TracyB Nov 15th, 2003 06:06 PM

I am not on AOL and sometimes 2 weeks go by and I cannot post..It really makes me angry...But lately, I have had no problems!! Who knows.

SusieQQ Nov 16th, 2003 03:15 AM

I couldn't post or use the fodor's search. I went into my computer and deleted all the unused programs (such as versions of AOL that I no longer use). Everything works beautifully now.

RufusTFirefly Nov 16th, 2003 07:17 AM

Dump AOL--expensive, quirky, out of step with the rest of the IT world.

NYCFoodSnob Nov 16th, 2003 07:20 AM

Rufus is SO right. AOL is SO over.

I have AOL at home and it is AOL. You can't post on Fodors or search on it with AOL (at least not for a few weeks, most of the time--not sure how long that's been going on as I don't normally use AOL for Fodors). YOu have to have a browser set up on your desktop OUTSIDE AOL to open up for Fodors. That sounds confusing, to have AOL running but an outside browser, but it is possible.

I was having a problem with Internet Explorer. Switched over to Netscape and had no problems.

Schildc1 Nov 16th, 2003 02:44 PM

I had had problems posting and searching for almost 6 weeks. A Fodor's techie tried to help, but we were both stymied. I too am an AOL user. Then, one day I tried logging in under my profile and all my other problems ceased. Mind you, I had been able to post and search all the time without logging in to Fodor's, even after the registration started. It's a minor extra step each time, but it IS annoying.

kismetchimera Nov 16th, 2003 07:05 PM

ttt, need info..

SusieQQ Nov 17th, 2003 02:21 AM

Kismetchimera: I have a Dell Computer. I went into the Control Panel. From there I clicked into Add or Remove Programs. I deleted programs I am no longer using. Among some others I had a few old AOL versions and an unused Earthlink.

Ever since I put AOL 9.0 on my home computer, I cannot log on. I get "Web site not responding" Here at work, I use IE & am automatically logged on when I open Fodors.
Solutions? I wrote FOdor's & they said they would look into it. Tick Tock, Tick Tock....

Anton Nov 17th, 2003 07:53 AM

I often have trouble posting; maybe 75% of the time. I have a new computer. Let's see if this gets through.

Christina Nov 17th, 2003 10:12 AM

well, I've had trouble with AOL and Fodors most of the time in the last few weeks, but I was always "logged in" to Fodors, there was no trouble with that. It remembers who you are with cookies, however, so I don't have to log in each time. I would contact AOL about it as I think it's their problem rather than Fodors (obviously, since I have no problem with MSIE on a regular ISP), but it does no good to talk to AOL about anything as they don't care.

As for getting rid of cookies? it's real easy, I do it periodically. This is for MSIE browser but I imagine others are similar -- just go to the "Tools" section on the top bar of the browser open window. Click on Tools, then click on "Internet Options" at the very bottom. The window that opens up has a place to click right on the front window that says "delete cookies". that's all there is to it.
