Trivia Challenge

I go away for a while and what do I found upon return?.... a guy named Topper causing debacle, one person who doesn't know where to put her passport, another wants to do 4 countries in 3 days, ....people, people, what's going on?!

I know is summertime, but I see the need for some mental stimulation on this forum and therefore, I challenged you all to answer the following question:

The world organization UNESCO recognizes a number of places of worldwide value (World Heritage List) with the designation Patrimony of Humanity. What country has the most sites in that list?

(Bonus Points if you can say how many.)

Come on Topper, make my day....

Maira-
Do you mean which country has the most sites on the World Heritage List? Or is there a special designation subcategory called Patrimony of Humanity on that list?

Maira Jul 9th, 1999 02:46 PM

Name which country has the most sites on the World Heritage List. Thanks for the note.

Sheila Jul 9th, 1999 02:49 PM

France. 34

Helen Jul 9th, 1999 02:53 PM

Ooh, she's fast. And just yesterday she would have us all believe that she was suffering TV-induced brain damage. So, Maira, do we have a winner?

Maira Jul 9th, 1999 02:56 PM

Sorry Sheila, only one part of your your answer is correct (and then again, even that part is incomplete)...

I'll guess Turkey, not because I have a clue, but because I was there last summer and really enjoyed it:) (And there are more than a couple significant sites in Turkey, after all)

Ron Jul 9th, 1999 06:49 PM

Italy has 29 plus one that it shares with the Vatican. So whats the trick to the question that makes this the wrong answer?

kathy Jul 9th, 1999 07:00 PM

How about: Italy and Spain tied with 29 each tho Italy can break the tie with the additional one it shares with the Vatican??

Maira Jul 10th, 1999 03:27 AM

The answer: France and Spain with 29. They both shared two addittional ones: The Pyrenees and the Camino to Santiago.

Ron Jul 10th, 1999 06:46 PM

Maira, have you informed UNESCO that their web site is wrong?
http://www.unesco.org/whc/heritage.htm
They seem to think that France only has 25 sites.
