Tripadvisor - not much on Sorrento?!
Hey - Looking for a great place to stay in Sorrento - Tripadvisor doesn't seem to have many reviews? any thoughts?

Well, it was a few years back that we stayed at the Bellevue Syrene. Had a nice room with a balcony jetting out over the Gulf of Naples. For swimming they had wooden piers. The hotel next door, the Tramontano, seemed pretty nice and had a pool. Both these hotels were in the town centrally located but on the cliff overlooking the Bay. There is a good choice of restaurants in Sorrento, and easy transportation to Capri, Pompeii and Herculaneum, and the Amalfi Coast.

Depends on what you mean by great. We have stayed twice at the Excelsior Grand Vittoria - which is beautiful has gorgeous views out over the Bay of Naples and a wonderful pool in a lovely private garden, even though the front entrance of the grounds open onto the town's main square.
Altogether a great hotel - and a price to match. If you want a nice hotel at a budget you need to tell us what it is - and what you expect to get for it. |
nytraveler: The OP was looking for a hotel more than 3 years ago. This old/moldy thread was topped kca90 who has been doing that today . . . .

So I guess a trip report is out of the question.

I have twice stayed at the Hotel Bristol which is just up the hill from town. It was a great location with beautiful view of the Bay of Naples. I believe all rooms have a balcony.
The hotel is built on the side of the hill with a pool and garden on the roof. The common areas of the hotel, breakfast room, etc. are absolutely gorgeous with Italian tiled floors in beautiful floral motif. There is a piano bar with balcony on Bay. The rooms are very typical of a hotel, very nice, but nothing special. Clean, with good bathrooms. Check it out. |
eurogals: . . . Note - the OP was 3+ years ago, and Caramia79 hasn't been back to Fodors in more than 2 years. She ain't looking any more
