trip with family of 4

We are planning to visit London this August (2 adults, 2 teens). We are thinking that an apartment rental would be cheaper than a hotel for 4. Any suggestions for lodging and day trips from London?

try VRBO.com for apartment rentals. You'll need to do some research first to determine what area of London you're interested in. most hotels are double rooms only so you'd need two rooms and London is very expensive. August will be a slower time so you might find deals. Another hint - maybe repost your question and put London in the title - more folks might see it then.

Thereare MANY threads on here about flats in London so if you do a search you will find a ton of information.

A flat will most certainly be cheaper and will give you more space than hotels. If you do decide to stay in a hotel - you could use priceline. You would have to book two rooms but it would still be cheaper.

Here are a few places to start your search for a flat:

E&E Apartments (no website but they do have e-mail) [email protected] phone 011-44-171-828-0453
Moderately priced studio, 1 and 2 bedroom flats in Pimlico and Victoria. Near the Thames, Tate Britain, Chelsea and Victoria Station.

Hamlet (UK) Ltd. www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~hamlet_uk/
Phone 011-44-181-883-0024 1 and 2 bedroom flats at St Katherine’s Dock next to the Tower of London.

Scala House www.scala-house.co.uk Phone 011-44-171-580-6644. An Apartment bldg with 2-bedroom flats near Tottenham Court Rd and Oxford Street in central London.
