Trip to UK in May 2011

Hello!
We are planning a trip to UK from India in last week of May 2011 for 7 days. We will apply for U.K Visa. Can someone pls. tell us which all country can we visit on UK Visa. Also along with London which countries would be best to see in 7 days. We understand that 7 days is very less to see this b'ful country..but we don't have enough leaves. Thanks in advance for your suggestions...

On a UK visa you can visit the UK. You can't visit any other country on it

To expand:

Nationals of practically every country where the UK requires a visa need separate visas for Schengen (most of western continental Europe, but a visa for one country lets you visit all of them within its validity period) or for the Republic of Ireland.

A UK visa allows you to visit Northern Ireland, which is part of the UK, and passport checking on the land border between Northern Ireland and the Republic is patchy. There's full passport checking on planes and ferries between Britain (the big island) and the Irish Republic.

But you really, really, really won't run out of things to see in the UK in seven days. And Paris will still be thgere next year.

I would spend 7 days in London and take a day trip or two. There is more than enough to keep you busy!

Some day trip ideas:
Stonehenge/Salisbury
Cambridge
Oxford
Canterbury
Bath
Windsor Castle
Hampton Court

Yes, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland are all part of the UK. But with only seven days you dont really have time for more than one.

Yes, 7 days seem to be very short. Request someone to suggest a itinerary for 8 days. We would like to cover as many places as we can as planning a trip to UK from India is little tough. Also we would prefer to see different countries on train, have heard train ride is very b'ful there..

With 8 days I would either stay in London and do a couple day trips - like I suggested above.

Or pick 2 places (London & Edinburgh, London & Wales etc) and fly into London and out of wherever else you decide.

Sure. Thanks for suggesting. We yet to apply for tourist VISA and book tickets from India to London. Once we are through with these, shall get other details - place to stay, local travel, etc. Thank you so much
